Sales Associate - Lawn and Garden
Position
Summary:
The Garden Sales Associate's primary responsibility is to drive Garden sales by consistently providing Miner's customers an environment where customers want to shop and employees want to work. The Garden Sales Associate will combine a passion for and knowledge of plants with an enthusiastic, positive and supportive attitude to provide legendary service to Miner's customers. Garden Sales Associates are also responsible for merchandising product and supporting the store management team.
Major
Responsibilities:
The major responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the S.A.L.E.S. process and by mystery shop standards.
Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management.
Actively participate and assist in the training and development of peers.
Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards.
Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized.
Responsive of safety issues.
Conscious of shoplifting activity.
Assist customers in locating merchandise in store, on ACENET, as well as, processing special orders and promote add-on sales.
Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card.
Minimum Requirements:
The minimum requirements for this position include:
Education/Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Possess a vast product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn.
Experience:
Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with customers.
Previous experience in a retail environment, preferably in a garden/nursery.
Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledge of retail computer systems
Ability to search the internet to identify plant names
A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.
Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
Physical Requirements:
The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:
Must be able to lift 40 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff and customers a normal in-person and phone conversation.
Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel.
Ascend and descend ladder.
Ability to work at heights.
License and Certificates:
Lumber and Nursery staff must obtain or possess the following:
Must be able to present valid proof of ability to drive in California.
Upon hire must be willing to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
Rate of Pay:
DOE.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
